The Lao Buddhist monks  are not far more different from Thai monk because they practice the same tradition, Theravadin Buddhism. They observe the same amount of precepts and practice according to the same Buddha’s teachings. But they differ in some aspects. Thai Buddhism is divided into two schools, namely: Dhammayuttanikaya and Mahanikaya while Lao Buddhism abide by only one Nikaya, that is, Lao monk, or rather to say, Buddhanikaya. Before that Laos also had two schools which were influenced by Thailand. But after the country gained independence in 1975, the two schools of practice became one. That’s easy to follow and ease to practice, create no more conflicts among two different schools as before.
